The diagnosis and management strategies of NAFLD in older adults are sometimes challenging, and certain age-specific factors have to be taken into account.

In this review, S. A. Alqahtani (King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, Saudi Arabia and Johns Hopkins University, USA) and J. M. Schattenberg (University Medical Center, Mainz, Germany) provide an overview of considerations relevant to the management and diagnosis of NAFLD in older adults. The authors also discuss the types of pharmacological interventions available for the management of NASH in the aging population
