The incidence of cardiovascular disease is higher in NAFLD as compared to those without NAFLD and studies have shown it being as a predictor of cardiovascular disease and independent of conventional risk factors.

The objective of this descriptive cross-sectional study by B. Bc (7 Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, Dang, Nepal) was to find out the carotid intima-media thickness of NAFLD patients attending a tertiary care centre. This study showed increased carotid intima-media thickness in NAFLD. Thus, carotid Intima-media thickness measurement in NAFLD patients is one of the valuable indicators for assessing carotid atherosclerosis which is an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases
